Slip and Falls or Trip and Falls often result in very bad injuries. When they happen, people are usually very embarrassed that they just fell in front of people. They are usually more concerned about the injury to their pride, than the injury to their bodies. This can make these cases very difficult to prove later. If you are injured in a Slip and Fall or a Trip and Fall, you should try to follow these steps:

1. Don't be embarrassed, it wasn't your fault!

2. Call 911 and seek emergency medical attention if it's an emergency;

3. Take pictures of the scene, including what made you fall; (If you are unable to do this because of your injury, ask a companion or a witness to take pictures and be sure to get their contact information);

4. Get contact information from all witnesses;

5. Report your injury to an employee while at the scene. DO NOT RUN AWAY EMBARRASSED! They will later try to say it was unwittnessed and probably didn't happen as your allege;

6. Ask them to complete an accident form and request their name;

7. Take pictures of the shoes you are wearing to document the level of tread. Try not to wear them again to preserve the evidence.

These injuries can be caused by wet floors, ice and snow, defective stairs, lack of lighting, missing hand rails, objects left in walkways, and many other reasons.
